So it’s been a while since I last posted anything – hope you haven’t missed me too much 😉  Life’s just been pretty full on and my little brain can only cope with so much so, as a result, my blogging inspiration came to a sharpish halt.  I therefore had to park it for a while until I felt back in the game and today seems as good a day as any!  Although apologies if I’m bit rusty – you may have to bear with me as I find my flow again!  However, I do have quite a bit to update you on so let’s get going 🙂

Let’s start with the biggy – if you hadn’t already noticed (and you missed my social media updates), I finally completed my newly branded, all-singing, all-dancing website!  It was definitely a labour of love, testing me to my limits as I navigated all the technical shenanigans – it gave me serious brain ache on many an occasion for sure!  I met my deadline, however some technical gremlins meant I didn’t publicly shout about it until a couple of weeks later as I sorted them out #draining.  Anyhoo, it’s live and thanks so much for all the lovely feedback so far – means a lot.  I have to say, I am rather proud of my efforts given my novice web design status and hope I’ve managed to create a welcoming page that will continue to attract my blog readers whilst driving more photography clients my way so I can finally start earning a living out of my new venture 🙂  Just need to get a more recent “About Me” photo as the one I have used currently is approx. 10 years old and, as a result, I fear people won’t actually recognise me when I turn up for photo shoots and I’ll be done under trading standards!  Lol!  Anyway, would love to know what you think of the new site – good, bad or indifferent – as I am open to feedback, especially if you spot something you think could make it better.

So peeps, time to wave your goggles in the air like you just don’t care because…..{{drum roll}}……..I am now a fully qualified ASA Level 2 Swim teacher with an STA Safety Award for Teachers certificate to boot.  Woohoo!!  I undertook the 8 day ASA course earlier this month which I have to say was pretty intense – I’m clearly not getting any younger, kids!  I’ve only just managed to get rid of the eau de chlorine as we were in the pool twice a day most days.  However, I learnt so much, got to teach some lovely little kiddlywinks and met some fantastic people, all of whom taught me something along the way which was great.  Alongside my hours working for Aqua Jems, it has definitely reinforced my decision to pursue swimming teaching again.  So rewarding!  Although it can be a self-esteem killer, mind……one kid asked me if I was a boy or a girl…..and when I replied I was a girl, he promptly responded, “but you look like a boy” so that was nice.  Gotta admire his honesty I guess.  Lol!  Oh, and my bio is now live on the Ibiza Swim website (minus photo) and my swimming costume has been ordered!  Starting to feel really excited about teaching for them, learning from the exceptional talents I’ll get to call colleagues and, most importantly, seeing even more little people progress.

I’ve been busy, busy, busy with my photography which has been brilliant.  I’ve done 11 photo sessions since the beginning of March, some project based, some paying clients, all great experience and fun and, with more in the diary, I am hoping it’s just the start of things to come.  I even had a photography project at the dealership I used to work at!  Was so nice to go back and see everyone – felt like I’d never been away.  Over the coming weeks I will be sharing images from my recent sessions in a series of blog posts so watch this space for those as there will be some proper cuties featured.  Putting together my website definitely helped me see just how far I’ve come photography-wise and the reminder came at just the right time as the daily doubts were starting to become deafening.  True story : when my website was complete I then felt this overwhelming fear I’d not be able to match up to it even though I’ve created every word and image on the site!  Having the technical gremlins, although v.annoying, actually became a welcome distraction and delay to having to share it.  So crazy but another symptom of Imposter Syndrome I guess – that everything’s just one big fluke.  But from the first images I took over 12 months ago to the ones I’m producing now, even I can’t believe the difference.  I still have a way to go to be the photographer I want to be but, if I’m having wobbles, I just have a browse through my portfolio to remind myself of what I have already achieved.  Just got to find the courage to take the next steps now which are to actively promote myself and reflect my value in my prices…….Yikes!

Food & Exercise

Bit of an up and down few weeks with these……I think I am now on attempt 3 at Cycle 2 of the Body Coach 90 Day Plan as, since our last Ibiza trip, I’ve struggled to ditch the additional snacking especially after discovering Aldi’s peanut butter dome chocolates.  OMG – Reese’s Pieces eat your peanut butter heart out!  And well, they just keep leaping in to my trolley.  What’s a girl to do??  Joking aside, I’ve noticed a definite effect on my mood and energy levels as a result of the slippage so last week I did a week of Cycle 1 and exercised every day apart from Sunday and felt so much better for it.  I may still be having the odd one or 2 domes every now and again, but that’s a massive improvement on troffing the whole bag in one greedy sitting!  Adding a third 6am exercise session also helped so hoping to keep that up too, thanks to my running buddy.  So I’m hoping it’ll be third time lucky for Cycle 2!  Let’s just ignore the fact that I’ll be in Ibiza for week 3!

As I touched on above, I now need to start working on promoting myself and mastering social media accordingly as, so far, I’ve been pretty poor on it.  It’s partly because I was always a lurker on social media in the past.  I didn’t share very much, preferring to admire other people’s lives from a far.  Not very social really!  But, believe it or not, I might be an over-sharer on my blog, but on social media I struggle.  So my next focus is to be consistent on social media for both my business and blog, hopefully providing content people will want in their feeds – a difficult balance to achieve but one I shall be aiming to master 🙂

I shall also be trying to reignite my blog with more posts.  I’ll be starting with my recent photo sessions but will hopefully start getting more inspiration for some other posts too so watch this space for that.  We are also back out in Ibiza at the beginning of May for a week so my aim is to write another Ibiza blog after that as I know it’s been a while and I’ve had specific requests for more Ibiza content so I’m on it!  If there are other topics in particular you want to see more of then please let me know either in the comments below or via email (sally@sallydreams.com).

I think that pretty much sums up the past few weeks.  Hope it was worth the wait!  Lol!  Would love to hear what you’ve been up to in the comments below……
